Fees for all deed registration services in Tamil Nadu have been announced to be hiked from July 10

In the notification issued in this regard:-

The fees for the services provided in the Registry Department have not been changed for more than 20 years. Therefore, it has been decided to change the fee rates for the services provided by the Registry Department such as document registration, preservation of the document being registered, providing copies of documents from electronic devices.

Accordingly, Section 78 of the Registration Act, 1908 revised the rates of fees for 20 species in the Schedule of Fees and the rates of registration and stamp duty for certain documentary registrations.

For example,

Registration fee Rs.20/- to Rs.200/- for receipt document,

For settlement, partition and release documents between family members, maximum registration fee from Rs.4,000/- to Rs.10,000/- and maximum stamp duty from Rs.25,000/- to Rs.40,000/-,

The fee for registration of a separate plot is Rs.200/- to Rs.1,000/-,

This includes changing the registration fee from Rs.10,000/- to a percentage of the market value of the property for public authority documents for non-family members. It is said to be effective from 10.07.2023
